Web Design and Web Development
Just use your imagination and we'll make sure it comes life, through
- simple Web 2.0 design
- and advanced web development.
What is the difference between Web Design and Web Development?
The two seem interchangeable, but in actual fact, they're not. Design, vis-à-vis the online industry, refers to the overall presentation of a concept (website, flash animation etc), in terms of layout, colours, navigation, underlying style sheets, and basically the first thing that one sees when visiting a website. It's there, it's in your face kind of thing.
Whereas designers deal with the front-end presentation elements, developers are usually concerned with the mechanisms that make the website function. This may include contact form submission and processing, implementation of template-based systems for easier maintenance, integration of database-driven functionality (e.g. most modern guestbooks or forums), server-side processing and other similar behind-the-scenes material that is not so obvious at first sight.
Naturally, designers and developers work with different tools to accomplish their tasks. And although both are familiar with basic concepts like HTML or CSS, the two tend to be more specialised when it comes to their areas of expertise. So a designer might often have to work with Adobe's Flash suite, creating interactive introductions or animations. However a developer might only know how to integrate that stuff into a webpage, but would then be familiar with server-side scripting languages such as PHP or ASP.
At egofirm we do both.
